Our chapter and rabbinic-based organizing created the atmosphere for the Administration and Congress to take the aggressive pro-peace steps we have seen since President Obama took office. We have been building our political base over the past six years in preparation for this moment.

President Obama's Administration has continued to move on the priorities Brit Tzedek had laid out in a letter signed by more than 1,000 American rabbis for fully engaged diplomacy in the region.  Most recently, Secretary of State Clinton called on the Israelis to expand the types of humanitarian aid allowed into Gaza, and Israel responded in kind.  The President is expected to make a major foreign policy speech on the Middle East next week.  Pro-peace voices in the Jewish community must be prepared to respond, especially in light of the announcement this week of a predominantly right-wing Israeli governing coalition.
