SAMPLE SCRIPT:
Hi, my name is [first name] [last name]
from [hometown], [state]. As a Jewish constituent who supports
Israel, I urge the Senator [or Representative] to call for U.S.
leadership in establishing an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and
southern Israel by all sides in concert with the international
community.
If the [Senator/Representative] intends
to make a statement about the crisis, I ask that it acknowledge
the suffering and civilian injuries and deaths on both
sides.
I very much hope that we see an end to
the hostilities very soon. Thank you.
After you have called, please email
dcoffice@btvshalom.org
and let us know which Representative and Senators you have
contacted so that we can tally our contacts with each.
If you cannot call, please send
your Senators and Representative an email. Calls
are much more effective, but any communication is helpful.
You can look up the contact information for your Senators and
Representative at: http://ga3.org/btvshalom/leg-lookup/search.tcl?domain=btvshalom
And please forward this
action alert to as many like-minded Jews as possible.

Urgent Pro-Peace
Congressional Action Needed Now: Be
One of 20 – Please Call Your Members of
Congress
Dear Friend of Brit Tzedek,
A concerted effort is under way requesting
that members of Congress issue statements supporting Israel's
right to "defend its citizens against terrorism" by continuing
its military action in Gaza. It is likely that legislation in
this vein will emerge shortly after Congress convenes on January
6.
We recognize Israel's right and obligation
to defend its people against the ongoing rocket attacks from
Gaza. However, letting the current crisis escalate further will
not give the Israeli people respite from the present violence
nor will it protect them in the future. The ongoing violence
also exacerbates tensions throughout the Middle East.
Please call your Senators and
Representative now with a strong pro-Israel, pro-peace
message. Ask them to call for U.S. leadership in
negotiating an immediate ceasefire and an end to hostilities by
all sides in concert with the international community.
A ceasefire will bring a much-needed halt
to the immediate violence and provide space for addressing
humanitarian needs. However, it is only the first step in
facilitating the only solution that will guarantee Israel's
long-term security -- a negotiated peace agreement with the
Palestinians.
Several members of Congress have
told us that if every Senator and Representative receives at
least 20 pro-Israel, pro-peace phone calls from our supporters,
it will make a significant difference in how they feel they can
respond. Our members of Congress need our support to
make a statement that would truly be in the best interests of
Israelis and Palestinians. The U.S. must support conflict
resolution, not escalation.
Please be one of those 20 (or more)!
Call your Senators and Representative immediately.
L’shalom,
Sue Swartz, Chair of Advocacy Deepa
Domansky, Washington Liaison and Advocacy
Coordinator
PS. Please share this Action
Alert with family, friends, and
colleagues (and if you forward to friends in a different
state or Congressional district, just have them call the
Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask for their own
Senators/Representative).
