Victory for Quality Child Care

Budget cuts recently threatened the closure of Broward County's Office of Child Care Licensing (OCLE), despite its ranking of second best in the United States by the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (NACCRRA), Letters of support from citizens, advocates and professionals urging Broward County Board of County Commissioners not to cut children's programs or reduce health and safety standards made a difference.

Send a letter today thanking the Broward County Board of County Commissioners.

Subject: Victory for Quality Child Care

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

It has been brought to my attention that the Broward County Board of County Commissioners is no longer considering closing the Office of Child Care Licensing and Enforcement (OCLE).

Please accept my thanks for recognizing the value of Broward's OCLE. Sadly, Florida lags behind most other states on early care and pre-k quality. Thanks to the OCLE, early care and pre-k in Broward County are making important strides to improve standards.

As you move into the public hearing phase of your budget setting, I urge you to continue to support your decision to fully fund Broward's OCLE. We can not afford to compromise the health and safety of our young children or reduce the quality of early learning centers.

I understand this is a very difficult budget climate and thank you for your decision to retain funding for this high quality child care licensing program.

Sincerely,
